Mercer County Democratic Chair Janice Mironov has endorsed John Currie for re-election as Democratic State Chair, a move that is expected to add previously unattributed votes into the Currie column.
We will be supporting the longstanding practice that the Governor have his choice as the Chairperson of the state party. Governor Murphy shares many of our important core values and has been accessible and energetic in his support of our candidates, Mironov said. “The Mercer County Democratic State Committee Members are totally unified in this position.”
Mercer County Executive Brian Hughes endorsed Currie last December.
Between Mironov and Hughes, there are six votes in Mercer County. Mironov is a State Committeewoman.
Mironov, re-elected as the mayor of East Windsor on Tuesday, had said on numerous occasions over the past few months that she was undecided on the contest between Currie and Essex County Democratic Chairman LeRoy Jones, Jr.
“We look forward to working together in unity with our fellow Democrats throughout the state to ensure a vibrant and effective Democratic Party which reflects open and fair communications, responsive voter programs and messaging, and an inclusive party – to expand our party base and build for future democratic victories,” said Mironov.
Bergen County Democratic Chairman Paul Juliano endorsed Currie.
The latest endorsement could make Ocean County Democratic Chairman Wyatt Earp the decider in the Currie vs. Jones race.
