Testa wants voter ID added to ballot reforms

State Senate Candidate Michael Testa on Thursday called for Gov. Phil Murphy to add a voter ID provision to a slew of voter-access reforms Murphy announced support for on Wednesday. “A statewide Voter ID law would require any potential voter to provide photo identification at the polls or accompanying their Vote-By-Mail ballot the same as they would when renting a car, buying a six pack, or getting on an airplane,”

Sitting judge dies

Edward Duffy, the municipal court judge in Commercial and Maurice River, passed away on November 18.  He was 64.  Duffy was a former president of the Cumberland County Bar Association. Duffy served as a municipal prosecutor and solicitor for several Cumberland County municipalities before becoming a judge in 2016.

Brown: Testa a ‘wonderful choice’ for LD1

State Sen. Chris Brown said Cumberland County Republican Chairman Michael Testa would be a great pick to fill State Sen. Jeff Van Drew’s seat if the latter beats out Seth Grossman for retiring Rep. Frank LoBiondo’s House seat. “There’s a deep bench in the 1st district who would represent families very well,” Brown said. “The name I’ve heard thus far is Michael Testa, who I believe would be a wonderful choice”
