GOP legislators endorse Singh

Republican congressional candidate Hirsh Singh has picked up the endorsements of two Republican legislators from the Ocean County portion of New Jersey’s 2nd district. Assemblyman Brian Rumpf (R-Little Egg Harbor) and Assemblywoman DiAnne Gove (R-Long Beach) join the Ocean County Republican organization in supporting Singh for the open House seat of retiring Rep. Frank LoBiondo (R-Ventnor). “Hirsh Singh is the candidate we need for Congress in South Jersey," Rumpf said.

In Memoriam

Gene Ritchings, who founded the Ocean County Young Republican Club in the 1940’s, passed away on March 15.  He was 91.  Ritchings ran for the State Assembly twice in the 1950’s in GOP primaries against incumbent Lettie Savage.  He ran local campaigns in Point Pleasant and in Ocean County for decades and was the president of the Independent Voter League, which worked to oust longtime Point Pleasant Mayor Ralph Carlson

Carol Buckalew Dies

Carol Buckalew, the wife of civic leader and prominent political insider Joseph Buckalew for 62 years, passed away on March 9.  She was 85.  She was a New Jersey delegate to the 1984 Republican National Convention, pledged to Ronald Reagan, and was one of the owners of WOBM, Ocean County’s first radio station.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3-7 PM at the D’Elia Funeral Home in Lakewood, and
