Hudson Dem chair says ‘no one better equipped’ than Currie

Hudson County Democratic Chair Amy DeGise says she will back John Currie for another term as Democratic State Chairman.

“From the day the Democratic county committee members elected me as their new leader, Chairman John Currie has been an incredible mentor and his guidance helped our team hit the ground running this fall as we worked to re-elect Senator Menendez,” said DeGise. “I agree wholeheartedly with Governor Murphy that there is no one better equipped to lead our party than Chairman Currie, and the evidence is easy to see — from the investments NJDSC has made in county parties under his direction to the tremendous victories we won together in November throughout the state.”

Currie, the veteran Passaic County Democratic chair and the state party chairman since 2013, faces a possible challenge from Essex County Democratic Chairman LeRoy Jones.

Gov. Phil Murphy announced yesterday that he was backing Currie for re-election in 2020.

Currie’s term expires on January 31, 2020.

“I am fully in support of John Currie and I hope that Democrats throughout the state will recognize that he is the right choice to lead our party forward,” DeGise said.
