Possible presidential candidate can’t name Currie

Former Massachusetts Governor mulling 2020 bid

Former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick, who was in the state stumping for Josh Welle Friday and Saturday, said he had not spoken with Democratic State Chairman John Currie about a possible run at national office and did not know who Currie was when asked.

“Talked to who?” Patrick said when asked whether he had had such a conversation with Currie, saying after he was told Currie was chair of the state party: “I haven’t no.”

In February, Patrick told a Missouri public radio station that a 2020 run at the presidency was “on my radar.”

Should he choose to run, he might end up competing for vote with New Jersey Democrats’ golden boy, Sen. Cory Booker, who is also mulling a run to challenge President Donald Trump.
