Gov. Phil Murphy made it clear today that he stands 100% behind John Currie as the Democratic State Chairman and praised Currie’s leadership as state party chairman over the last five years.
“Under Chairman John Currie, the New Jersey Democratic State Committee has seen historic gains at the local, county, and state level. He is an innovator who is strengthening our party from the grassroots up- John is creating a more democratic Democratic Party. After eight years of the disastrous Christie administration, the middle class in New Jersey has an administration in Trenton that is once again working for them rather than the failed special interests,” Murphy said in a statement. “Now more than ever, as we prepare for one of the most critical midterm elections in our country’s history, we stand united behind Chairman Currie and focus on re-electing Senator Menendez and taking back the House of Representatives this November.”
Murphy’s comment followed a New Jersey Globe report this morning that several Democratic county chairs remain upset with Currie for taking sides with Murphy and against the state’s Democratic legislative leadership during the June state budget batte.
“Chairman Currie is a vital partner in my fight to make our state a stronger and fairer place for every family, and he has my full support to continue leading our state party into an era of unprecedented success.”
