The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is running Facebook ads that accuses Democrat-turned-Republican Rep. Jefferson Van Drew (R-Dennis) of blocking lower prescription drug prices by standing with Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell.
“As President Trump prepares to peddle empty promises and sweet lies in his State of the Union address, we are reminding voters that Jefferson Van Drew chose to join Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump’s party, which is actively blocking efforts to lower prescription drug costs,” said Christine Bennett, a DCCC spokesperson. “While House Democrats fight to bring down the skyrocketing costs of prescription drugs, Van Drew’s new party is continuing to look out for drug manufacturers and its special interest backers.”
A CNN poll released last month showed Trump’s health care policy had an upside-down approval rating of 38%-53%.
The DCCC says it launched a seven-figure national ad buy last week to highlight legislation at reducing health care costs.
