An InsiderNJ report that Democratic leader George Norcross pulled his participation in Joseph DiVincenzo’s annual Super Bowl party in Puerto Rico over Essex County Executive’s endorsement of Gov. Phil Murphy’s re-election and the fight over the state party chairmanship is wrong, the New Jersey Globe has learned.
Norcross decided in August that he would not attend DiVincenzo’s annual football bash and instead would host his own event during the NFL championship weekend two weeks earlier.
One of the invited guests provided the Globe with a copy of an e-mail sent from Norcross on August 14 saying that the “Can Do Club” had decided to move their annual NFL excursion to the Baha Mar Nassau Resort in the Bahamas.
Norcross’ group had decided to make a weekend of the two championship games that would determine the teams that play in the Super Bowl.
“This will allow everyone to spend Super Bowl weekend with their families/friends, etc.,” Norcross wrote.
The e-mail, which was independently verified by the Globe, shows that the decision to pull out of the DiVincenzo event was made at a time when the South Jersey-endorsed candidate for state chairman, Essex County Democratic Chairman LeRoy Jones, Jr., was leading incumbent John Currie – and at a time when the relationship between Norcross and DiVincenzo remained strong.

Gee, a Norcross insiders event in the Bahamas for Men only. And Chris Chistie too. Isn’t that special?
