Norcross raises $1.5 million for Super PAC tonight

The General Majority PAC, a super PAC connected to powerful South Jersey Democrats, is expected to raise $1.5 million tonight at a fundraiser honoring Senate President Steve Sweeney in Mount Laurel, according to a source familiar with the event who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

The event is being hosted by Democratic powerhouse George Norcross.

The PAC could be used to run ads to counter a non-profit run by allies of Gov. Phil Murphy, especially if the governor’s group changes course and goes negative on Democratic legislators.

The political action committee has no formal ties to Norcross, who has not personally contributed to it, according to a POLITICO report.
