Teaneck School Board member Danielle Gee endorsed Assemblywoman Valerie Vainieri Huttle (D-Englewood) for State Senate Monday.

“Valerie’s record speaks for itself: she has been a champion for women’s rights, a stout advocate for working families, the voice for adults and children with disabilities, a strong supporter of gun violence prevention and so much more,” she said. “But it’s about more than her record. I stand with Valerie because her story is one that I’ve heard before, and experienced first-hand.”

Vainieri Huttle is running against Assemblyman Gordon Johnson (D-Englewood) for Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg’s (D-Teaneck) seat in the upper chamber.

Johnson has the Bergen County line and the support of some of the state’s most prominent Democrats, including Gov. Phil Murphy, Senate President Steve Sweeney (D-West Deptford) and Assembly Majority Leader Lou Greenwald (D-Voorhees).

Gee also endorsed Vainieri Huttle’s running mates, Teaneck Councilwoman Gervonn Romney Rice and Tenafly Councilwoman Lauren Kohn Dayton.

“I cannot emphasize enough the importance of having someone from Teaneck represent us in the legislature. Gervonn has a proven track record of community service and leadership in Teaneck, both as a Councilwoman and Board of Education member,” Gee said. “With Senator Loretta Weinberg’s departure from public service, we must support Gervonn so that Teaneck has a strong voice in the state legislature.”
