Ex-Teaneck school board member running for Bergen freeholder

Shahanaz Arjumand, a former Teaneck Board of Education member, has joined the race for the Democratic nomination for Bergen County freeholder.

Democrats will hold a convention next month to pick a replacement for David Ganz, who is not seeking re-election to a seventh term term on the freeholder board.

Ridgewood mayor Ramon Hache has emerged as the leading candidate to replace Ganz.

Arjumand, a finance executive, was appointed to fill a vacant school board seat in 2018 and then lost a bid for a full term by 350 votes to Gerald Reiner.
