Sumter, Wimberly are re-elected

By David Wildstein, November 05 2019 8:01 pm

The New Jersey Globe is projecting that Democratic incumbents Shavonda Sumter and Benjie Wimberly have been re-elected to the New Jersey State Assembly in the 35th district.

They defeated just one Republican opponent, Tamer Mamkej.

Another Republican, Robert Cartalemi, withdrew from the race after the primary election and was not replaced on the general election ballot.

Sumter is the Majority Conference Leader and Wimberly became chairman of the Housing and Community Development Committee following the death of Jerry Green last year.

Both Democrats were elected in 2011.
