The New Jersey Globe is projecting that Democratic incumbents Gary Schaer and Clinton Calabrese have been re-elected to the New Jersey State Assembly in the 36th district.
They defeated Republicans Khalhoun Andowis and Foster Lowe.
Schaer flipped an open Republican Assembly seat in the 36th in 2005 when Paul DiGaetano left to mount a quixotic bid for the GOP gubernatorial nomination.
Clinton Calabrese won his Assembly seat in 2018 after Gov. Phil Murphy nominated Marlene Caride as the state Commissioner of Banking and Insurance. The scion of Cliffside Park’s royal family, he won 64% in a special election for the seat last year.
