Toni Gingerelli has been named chief of staff to Senate Majority Conference Leader Vin Gopal (D-Long Branch).

Gingerelli began her career in politics as an intern for the Monmouth County Democratic Women’s Caucus six years ago.  She has served as Gopal’s deputy chief of staff since early 2019 and was previously the deputy director for RepresentWomen.

While at Rutgers, Gingerelli was a research assistant at the Eagleton Center for Public Interest Polling and interned in the office of Assemblywoman Joann Downey (D-Freehold) and Assemblyman Eric Houghtaling (D-Neptune).  She was the student coordinator of the Rutgers University Voting Initiative, and interned for the Teach A Girl to Lead Project.

Gingerelli is a Democratic county committeewoman in Howell.

She replaces Joe Libutti, who has left his post with Gopal to join Kivvit, the public affairs firm run by New Jersey powerhouse Maggie Moran.  Libutti was the chief of staff to Downey and Houghtaling before taking his post with Gopal.
