Former Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen has endorsed former top staffer Aura Dunn in her bid for State Assembly in the 25th district.
“Aura would make an excellent assemblywoman, as she is conversant with every conceivable issue that faces our state,” Frelinghuysen wrote in a letter to Republicans. I know that and can vouch for it.”
Dunn, who served as Frelinghuysen’s district director, is one of six Republicans seeking the unexpired term of Anthony M. Bucco, who resigned from the Assembly in October to take his late father’s State Senate seat.
The election will be held on Thursday, with the winner completing the remaining seven weeks of Bucco’s current term.
Frelinghuysen called Bucco “an incredible public servant, like his father.”
Dunn, Frelinghuysen says, has paid he dues to the Republican Party.
“The manner in which she conducted herself in earlier campaigns has only increased my respect for her capabilities,” Frelinghuysen said.
The seat Dunn is seeking is the one Frelinghuysen held from 1984 to 1995, when he won his first of 12 terms in the U.S. House of Representatives. He did not seek re-election in 2018.
Frelinghuysen praised Dunn’s work as the head of his New Jersey office.
“She is a conservative Republican who earned my deepest admiration during the last few years of my public service,” said Frelinghuysen. “She has a great sense of humor, a supportive family, and an incredible grasp of what needs to be done in Trenton to stem the rising tide of personal and corporate flight from our tax burdened state.”ROdney Frelinghuysen Endorsement
