The New Jersey Sierra Club endorsed Rep. Bill Pascrell Tuesday.
“Congressman Pascrell is a fighter for clean air, clean water, and reducing climate change impacts. He has also worked tirelessly in passing legislation to protect Great Falls National Park,” said Jeff Tittel, Director of the New Jersey Sierra Club. “Congressman Pascrell is a great leader in Congress and we strongly support his reelection.”
Pascrell has a 93% rating from the League of Conservation Voters and has backed the Green New Deal, a climate plan introduced by four of the House’s most progressive congresswomen.
While Pascrell’s district is safely Democratic, the 21-term congressman faces a primary challenge from environmental activist Zina Spezakis.
“I am honored to receive the support of the Sierra Club,” Pascrell said. “The Sierra Club is literally working to save the world from environmental destruction – and I stand beside them. I endorse science, I abhor pollution, I support clean energy solutions, I demand a Green New Deal to guide America’s future. As Trump and Republicans continue their war on science and the environment, I will fight their arson every day.”
