State Sen. Anthony Bucco endorsed Assemblywoman Aura Dunn for the first year of the Assembly term he won in November.
“Absolutely, she has my 100% support,” he said.
Last month, Dunn won the remaining seven weeks of the term Bucco was serving when he took his late father’s seat in the Assembly.
He won another term on Nov. 5, but he will decline that post when the legislature begins its new session on Jan. 14.
Dunn will have to run in a second special convention over the coming weeks to retain that seat.
Based on her performance in the first convention — she won 74% of the vote in the first round of voting, securing the seat without a run off in a six-candidate field — it’s likely she’ll win the seat again.
Next November, both Dunn and Bucco will compete in special elections to hold their seats until they come up for a vote in 2021.
