Somerset County Republicans have endorsed Aura Dunn for an open State Assembly seat in the 25th district, where she will run on the organization line with incumbent Anthony M. Bucco (R-Boonton).

Dunn, who served as Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen’s district director, want to replace 12-term Assemblyman Michael Patrick Carroll (R-Morris Township).  Carroll is retiring from the legislature and running for Morris County Surrogate.

Bernardsville is the only Somerset town in Morris County-based 25th district and represents just 6% of the total primary vote, but symbolically it is a good win for Dunn, who is looking to break out of the pack in her bid for Carroll’s seat.  Morris County has an open primary, which means Dunn has won the only organization line available.

Dunn edged out Denville councilman Brian Bergen and special assistant Morris County John Barbarula.
