One of the leaders of Donald Trump’s grassroots political organization in New Jersey has endorsed John McCann for Congress in New Jersey’s 5th district.

“John’s longstanding support of conservative beliefs and his decades of support to the Republican Party make him the best choice to serve in Congress,” said Steve Rogers, the president of America Winning Coalition.  ““Most important to me and citizens who are committed to Making America Great Again is John’s unwavering support of President Trump.  John has proudly stood beside President Trump and never wavered in his support of the Trump agenda.”

McCann, a former Cresskill councilman, is making his second bid for Congress.  He won a primary election against former Bogota mayor Steve Lonegan in 2018 and 42% against Gottheimer in the general election.

McCann faces Montvale mayor Michael Ghassali, investment banker Frank Pallotta and several other candidates in the June Republican primary.

“Now, more than ever, President Trump needs people like John McCann in office.  I look forward to helping send President Trump a real partner to Congress,” said Rogers, a Nutley commissioner and 2017 GOP gubernatorial candidate.  “I hope every Trump supporter will join John in his campaign.”

Gottheimer is seeking re-election to his third term in the U.S. House of Representatives.
