The National Republican Congressional Committee is running paid digital ads in five New Jersey congressional districts highlighting the split between House Democrats over the impeachment of President Donald Trump.
Republicans launched the ads after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told the Washington Post Magazine that she does not support impeachment, saying “he’s just not worth it.”
The ads will run in 55 districts nationally where the Republicans are targeting incumbents for defeat next year, including freshman Reps. Jeff Van Drew (D-Dennis), Andy Kim (D-Marlton), Tom Malinowski (D-Rocky Hill) and Mike Sherrill (D-Montclair).
The NRCC is also running ads in the 5th district, where they are taking aim at two-term Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-Wyckoff).
This appears to be a relative small buy — five figures across the 55 districts — and the NRCC is not saying how much they are spending specifically in New Jersey.
“The socialist Democrats in Congress need to definitively state if they will stand up to the baseless attempts to impeach our president or if they will once again roll over for the extremists running their caucus,” said Rep. Tom Emmer (R-Minnesota), the NRCC chairman. “Instead of trying to overturn a legitimate and lawful election, these childish socialists should buckle their chinstraps and figure out how they will sell their socialist agenda in the American heartland.”
