Rep.-elect Tom Malinowski told the New Jersey Globe on Sunday that he has not yet made a decision on House leadership.
“My position is what I laid out in the campaign. I haven’t made a decision,” Malinowski said. “I want to make sure that whoever is seeking my vote is going to be willing to deliver for us on issues like the SALT deduction and the Gateway Tunnel. I want to make sure that it’s somebody who can lead the caucus in a really complicated time in our country.”
During the campaign, Malinowski told the New Jersey Globe that he would discuss the issue of leadership with his constituents following the election.
He was the only Democratic House challenger in the state to that did not say he wouldn’t vote to put House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, the favored candidate for House Speaker, into a leadership role.
“I also promised during the campaign that I would come back at some point and consult with folks in the district,” Malinowski said. “And we’re going to look for opportunities to do that in the next few days before I make a decision.”
