The American Federation of Teachers has endorsed Democrat Tom Malinowski for Congress in New Jersey’s 7th district.

“New Jersey voters have serious decisions to make about the future of our state and our nation within the next 100 days and part of our mission is to remind members of how much elections really matter,” said AFTNJ President Donna M. Chiera, a retired Perth Amboy teacher. “As Assistant Secretary of State, Tom Malinowski demonstrated his dedication to human rights, international diplomacy and workers’ rights, exhibiting qualities that will serve residents of the seventh congressional district well, wholeheartedly earning our endorsement.”

Malinowski, who served in the Obama administration, is challenging five-term Rep. Leonard Lance (R-Clinton).

The AFT represents 30,000 members in New Jersey.
