Most of the state’s Democratic County chairs met in a closed-door meeting this afternoon with U.S. Senator Bob Menendez, his senior campaign team and consultants to review strategies for the general election contest against drug company CEO Bob Hugin. Menendez reportedly scheduled the chairs-only meeting several weeks ago to give them an update on his bid for re-election to a third term.
According to several sources, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, the party leaders were briefed on aspects of the Menendez campaign plan. The campaign also shared parts of their research on Hugin’s record as Celgene.
The sources declined to give further details on the meeting.
