Laborers’ union backs Kennedy in NJ-2

The Laborers’ International Union of North America (LiUNA) has endorsed Amy Kennedy for Congress in New Jersey’s 2nd district against incumbent Republican Jeff Van Drew.

LiUNA had backed Brigid Callahan Harrison in the Democratic primary.

Raymond M. Pocino, Vice President and Eastern Regional Manager of Laborers’ International Union of North America, said that Kennedy “has a proven record of advocacy and she will fight to create new jobs and protect the ones we have.”

“Amy will always take the side of workers over special interests,” Pocino said. “We need more people like Amy Kennedy in Congress.”

The politically influential building trades union, whose support often comes with money and boots on the ground, did not get involved in Van Drew’s 2018 campaign,

“In Congress, I will fight tirelessly to protect the hard-earned benefits of workers, and advocate every day for the protections they need to safely perform their critical duties,” Kennedy said.
