NRCC blocks $1.7 million for Kean TV ads

The National Republican Congressional Committee has placed a $1.7 million television ad buy on behalf of Thomas Kean, Jr. in New Jersey’s 7th district, an NRCC spokesman confirmed today.

Kean, the minority leader of the New Jersey State Senate, is challenging freshman Rep. Tom Malinowski (D-Ringoes) in one of the nation’s most closely-watched congressional races.

The GOP is trying to win back a seat Malinowski flipped in 2018 after 62 years of being represented by a Republican.

Malinowski ousted a five-term incumbent in 2018 – the first Democrat to win the 7th district since 1954 – and faces a tough re-election bid against Kean, a popular vote-getter in Central Jersey for nearly 20 years and the son of former Gov. Thomas Kean, Sr.
