Emily’s List has endorsed Amy Kennedy for Congress in New Jersey’s 2nd district, support that often comes with considerable financial support and access to fundraising opportunities.

Kennedy is challenging Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-Dennis), a pro-choice freshman congressman  who was elected as a Democrat in 2018 and switched parties in 2019 after refusing to support the impeachment of President Donald Trump.

“In Congress, I will be a champion for women and their families, fighting to support and empower them, to ensure access to affordable healthcare, and to build an economy that values the many contributions women workers and entrepreneurs make every day,” Kennedy said.

The Cook Political Report,  one of the leading non-partisan analysts of federal races, moved the Van Drew vs. Kennedy race from Leans Republican to Toss-Up days after two internal Democratic polls showed a tight race between the two candidates.

Kennedy comes from one of America’s most prominent political families.  She is married to former Rep. Patrick J. Kennedy (D-Rhode Island), the son of Senator Ted Kennedy and the nephew of President John F. Kennedy.
