Francis likely to run for Congress

By David Wildstein, December 15 2019 12:58 am

West Cape May Commissioner John H. Francis III is expected to seek the Democratic nomination for Congress in New Jersey’s 2nd district, where freshman Rep. Jeff Van Drew (D-Dennis) is switching parties.

Prominent political science professor Brigid Callahan Harrison and Atlantic County Freeholder Ashley Bennett are also likely to run.

Cumberland County Freeholder Jack Surrency is also considering a House bid.

Francis, known as Planet Walker for his TEDtalks, had been mulling a primary challenge to Van Drew.   He comes from a borough with just 1,024 residents and is still in his first term as a local official.
