The New Jersey AFL-CIO has endorsed State Sen. Jeff Van Drew (D-Dennis) for Congress in New Jersey’s 2nd district.
This marks a flip in the endorsement of the million-member union, which had traditionally endorsed the retiring 12-term Republican congressman, Frank LoBiondo.
“I am deeply honored to receive the endorsement of the NJ AFL-CIO,” said Jeff Van Drew. “Organized labor is the backbone of our economy, and they have always been at the forefront of creating good, middle-class jobs. I’m proud to work with the AFL-CIO to grow our economy and ensure that workers in South Jersey have access to opportunity and fair wages. As a State Senator, I’ve always stood by organized labor, and I will continue to fight for our workers and middle-class families in Congress.”
Van Drew faces Republican Seth Grossman, a former Atlantic County freeholder, in the general election.
