Camden County Republicans have endorsed Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-Dennis), falling in line with other GOP organizations in awarding their line to the Democrat-turned-Republican freshman congressman.
The GOP county chairman, Richard Ambrosino, said the endorsement came after all four candidates were screened by the county organization and by Republicans in Waterford, the only Camden municipality in the 2nd district.
“It was the unanimous recommendation of our county screening committee to endorse our Republican Congressman Jeff Van Drew for re-election. I am honored to affirm their recommendation and award Congressman Van Drew the use of our Camden County Republican line and slogan in June’s Republican Primary,” Ambrosino said. “We know he will continue fighting for South Jersey and we look forward to working with him to grow the Republican Party.”
Prior to Van Drew’s party switch, former Hill International CEO David Richter was widely viewed as the choice of the Camden GOP.
Two other candidates are also challenging Van Drew for the Republican nomination: former Trump administration official Robert Patterson and former Atlantic County Young Republican Chairman Brian Fitzherbert.
