Cumberland mayor backs Fitzherbert

Downe Township Mayor Bob Campbell has endorsed Brian Fitzherbert for the Republican nomination for Congress in New Jersey’s 2nd district.

Fitzherbert faces self-funder David Richter and controversial former Trump administration official Robert Patterson in the GOP primary to take on freshman Rep. Jeff Van Drew (D-Dennis).

“I’ve gotten to know Brian as a friend and he is a stand-up guy of impeccable character. He never waivers in expressing his interest in the Delaware Bayshore and working to fight for South Jersey,” Campbell said.  “I see Brian in South Jersey more than any other Republican Congressional candidate. I am confident he will work with us side-by-side to support our community in Cumberland County.”

Campbell was the GOP candidate for State Assembly in the 1st district in 2017, but finished fourth and lost by 12,304 votes against Democratic incumbents Bob Andrzejczak (R-Middle) and Bruce Land (D-Vineland).  He won 16% in a 2013 Republican State Senate primary.
