One of the highest-ranking Muslin elected officials in the state is calling Bob Hugin out for his refusal to disavow Seth Grossman’s campaign for Congress in New Jersey’s 2nd district.
“Bob Hugin is a man of constant reinvention but now his true colors are showing,” said Passaic County Freeholder Assad Akhter, a Democrat. “Now we see that Bob Hugin is refusing to condemn Seth Grossman, an avowed bigot and loyal Trump supporter, who has mocked diversity and has called my faith of Islam a ‘cancer.’
Akhter says that Hugin’s own ties to Trump disqualifies him from a seat in the United States Senate, saying that he “gave hundreds of thousands of dollars to help elect Donald Trump, who has vilified immigrants and people of color at every turn.”
“Bob Hugin wants to represent New Jersey, the most diverse state in the nation, yet he remains silent while the Trump White House spouts racially charged comment after comment,” Akhter said.
