Gov. Phil Murphy is using the Democratic State Committee to help build political support for his budget, but the state party chairman says he’ll consider giving Senate President Steve Sweeney and Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin equal time.
Democratic State Chairman John Currie says that the role of the state party is to keep other chairs and the community informed.
“I’m personally supportive of the governor’s budget,” Currie told the New Jersey Globe. “I hope they all seek a reasonable compromise. I think they will.”
Asked if he would allow Sweeney and Coughlin to also use the Democratic State Committee e-mail list communicate to party leaders, Currie said that he would consider it.
“I would take a look at it,” the chairman said. “They’re both good legislators.”
