Piper Perabo, an actor who has become increasingly active in New Jersey politics, has endorsed Elizabeth Warren for the Democratic presidential nomination.
“I’ve been listening and I’m all in for (Elizabeth Warren),” she tweeted after Wednesday’s debate. She also made a pitch to help raise money.
Perabo joined thousands of parents and students from her hometown of Toms River at a rally outside Gov. Phil Murphy’s office in Trenton in December to protest cuts to school funding.
In 2018, she raised money and canvassed door-to-door to help Rep. Andy Kim (D-Marlton) unseat two-term Rep. Tom MacArthur (R-Toms River) in New Jersey’s 3rd district last year.
The award-winning actor has also been a staunch critic of President Donald Trump, but she dismissed the idea that she might run for office in her home state someday.
It’s not immediately clear if Perabo will run for delegate to the Democratic National Convention on a slate pledged to Warren, or if she will campaign heavily for Warren in New Jersey if the June 2 Democratic presidential primary turns out to be pivotal.
Warren won the first-in-the-state county convention in Hunterdon this month, securing the organization line there.
