Elizabeth Warren has endorsed Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-Ewing) for re-election in New Jersey’s 12th district.

“During her time in Congress, Bonnie Watson Coleman has established herself as a national voice for our shared progressive values,” said Warren, a U.S. Senator from Massachusetts and 2020 presidential candidate. “I’m proud to call her a colleague and I hope the people she represents in New Jersey recognize all of the tremendous work she is doing in Washington on their behalf.”

Watson Coleman was endorsed by Bernie Sanders last week in a primary that she’s not taking for granted but is likely to win easily.

She faces Lisa McCormick, a shadowy perennial candidate for public office.

“Now more than ever we need champions who are willing to fight for big structural change, that is why I’m proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with Bonnie in this fight and the many fights to come,” Warren said.

Watson Coleman has been able to secure primary election endorsements from Sanders and Warren despite her support for New Jersey favorite-son Cory Booker in the 2020 Democratic presidential race.

Earlier this year, Watson Coleman listed Warren as one of the potential vice presidential candidates she most prefers.

“The Senator’s long-term vision for raising the minimum wage, ending the opioid crisis and increasing access to health care for all Americans are among the many detailed initiatives she has championed that I am proud to support,” Watson Coleman said.  “She has also stood toe to toe with Donald Trump and his cronies in the Republican Party and, of course, she persisted.”
