Booker in 2nd place in national Dem presidential poll

Cory Booker received a definitive post-filibuster bump in the race for the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination, moving up nine points since March and into second place in a national poll released by Echelon Insights.

Kamala Harris leads Booker, 28%-11%, with twenty other prospective candidates all in single digits.  Polling above three percent are Pete Buttigieg and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (7%), Tim Walz (5%), and Gavin Newsom (4%).

In a head-to-head contest, Harris leads Booker, 54%-34%.

Harris indicated that she’ll make a final decision about running for governor of California in 2026 by the end of the summer.

On the Republican side, J.D. Vance has a 47%-9% lead over Ron DeSantis.

Last week, an Economist/YouGov poll put Booker’s national favorables at 65%-11% among Democrats after his marathon speech.

The Echelon Insights poll was conducted between April 10-14 with a sample size of 1,014 likely voters and a margin of error of +/- 3.5%.  The sample size of Democrats is 447.
