Former mayor hosted fundraiser headlined by Warren in 2018

Former Edison Mayor Jun Choi is backing U.S. Sen. Cory Booker’s presidential bid.

“I’m a Senator Booker supporter. In fact, I’m co-hosting an event for him next month. I know several of the candidates personally. I like a number of them, but I’m backing our senator,” Choi told the New Jersey.

Choi, who was the first Korean American to be elected mayor of a major New Jersey municipality, raised eyebrows last year when he hosted a fundraiser last year for Elizabeth Warren’s U.S. Senate re-election bid at his home last year.

The fundraiser benefited the candidacies of now-Reps. Tom Malinowski (D-Rocky Hill) and Andy Kim (D-Marlton).
