Cory Booker has raised $5.1 million since announcing his bid for the Democratic presidential nomination on February 1 – an impressive but not overwhelming number.

Barack Obama entered the presidential race on February 10, 2007 and raised $25.8 million during the first quarter.  Joe Biden, who joined the race eleven days earlier, raised $4 million during his first two months as a 2008 presidential candidate.

Former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-Texas) raised a reported $9.4 million in his first eighteen days as a presidential candidate, the El Paso Times reported.

The two-term U.S. Senator has pledged to reject corporate PAC contributions, distanced himself from the pharmaceutical industry – which has a strong footprint in New Jersey – and promised not to take money from energy company executives.

Gov. Phil Murphy and Jon Bon Jovi hosted a fundraiser at the governor’s home last month.
