Gov. Phil Murphy, Republican gubernatorial candidate Jack Ciattarelli, Senate President Steve Sweeney, Senate Minority Leader Tom Kean, Jr, and NBC News/MSNBC national political correspondent Steve Kornacki will join host David Wildstein to on the New Jersey Globe Power Hour on Talk Radio 77 WABC on Saturday, October 23 at 4 PM.
Murphy is seeking re-election to his second term as Governor of New Jersey. If he wins, the former U.S. Ambassador to Germany will become the first incumbent Democrat in 44 years to get a second term.
But first he’ll need to get past Ciattarelli, a former three-term assemblyman and businessman from Somerset County. Ciattarelli is a former freeholder and Raritan council president.
Sweeney is the longest-serving legislative leader in New Jersey history and has a lock on at least another two years as Senate President. He’s widely viewed as a potential candidate for the Democratic nomination for governor in 2025, either for an open seat – New Jersey term limits – or against Ciattarelli.
Kean is leaving the legislature after 20 years – the last 13 as minority leader of the State Senate – to focus on a bid for the U.S. House of Representatives in New Jersey’s 7th district. He came within 1% of ousting Rep. Tom Malinowski in 2020.
Kornacki began his career in journalism as a political reporter for PoliticsNJ in 2002 and is now nationally renowned as the best political data analyst in the nation. He now appears regularly on NBC Sports, where he’s applied his analytic skills to Sunday Night Football, the Olympic Games in Tokyo and the Kentucky Derby. But Kornacki has never lost his interest in New Jersey politics and knows every nook and cranny of the state.
Wildstein is the host of the New Jersey Globe.
