Piscataway Mayor Brian Wahler and his slate of organization-backed candidates will win renomination, the New Jersey Globe projects.
Wahler currently leads rival Democrat William Irwin by 38 points.
Irwin is married to progressive activist Staci Berger.
The mayor’s slate mates, incumbent Council members Gabrielle Cahill, Kapil Shah and Chanelle Scott-McCullum lead challengers Ralph Johnson, Laura Leibowitz and Kamuela Tillman by between 11 and 14 points.
Republicans did not field any candidates in Piscataway, meaning the Democrats have essentially been re-elected.
