Teaneck councilmen Elie Katz and Gervonn Romney-Rice were re-elected on Tuesday, but incumbent Alan Sohn lost his bid for re-election to newcomers Keith Kaplan and James Dunleavy.

The winning candidates were allied with Mayor Mohammed Hameeduddin.  Councilman Jason Castle did not seek re-election.

Rice was the top vote-getter with 4,406, followed by Katz (3,746), Dunleavy (3,280) and Kaplan (3,126).  They defeated school board member Clara Williams (2,242) and Charles Powers (2,214).

Sohn was part of a Wall Street Journal story on Monday about a heated battle among Wikipedia volunteer editors.  Katz was one of three Teaneck councilmembers to endorse Republican Gov. Chris Christie in 2013.

  1. Fantastic! Another 4 years of Katz not doing a damn thing. I’m sure my property taxes will go down any minute now. Right? Right?
