Colleen Mahr is still mulling a rematch with Nick Scutari for Union County Democratic chair, but she’s already lost two of the municipal chairs who backed her when she ran sixteen months ago.

The New Jersey Globe first reported this afternoon that Hillside Democratic municipal chairman Anthony Salters has endorsed Scutari.

Tonight, Winfield Democratic Municipal Chair Margaret McManus announced that she would also back Scutari for re-election.

“I’ve known and been friends with Nick Scutari for years.  He’s been a consistent and wonderful friend to Winfield Township,” McManus said.  “Although I supported Mayor Mahr in the 2018 county chair convention, I have witnessed Chairman Scutari’s earnest efforts at bringing our Party back together since he was elected Chairman.”

McManus said that Scutari is “moving the party in the right direction and it’s time for unity.”

“Working together, we’ve elected the first female majority Freeholder Board in Union County history, flipped the 7th Congressional District, and have already grown the number of elected Democrats at the local level throughout Union County,” McManus said. “I endorse Nick Scutari to continue leading our Party as County Chairman & as our State Senator.”
