Treamont wins Essex State Committee seat

Roseland GOP chair replaces Comito

By David Wildstein, December 19 2019 9:33 am

Janet Treamont is the new Republican State Committeewoman from Essex County.

A longtime ally of Essex GOP Chairman Al Barlas, Treamont won the seat vacated last month when Mary Comito stepped down.

Essex Republicans held a meeting last night to fill the seat and Treamont, the Roseland Republican Municipal Chair, ran unopposed.

She will serve the remaining 18 months of Comito’s term.

Republicans elect two state committee members — one male and one female — from each county.  Democrats award state committee seats proportionally, based on population.
