Roque lawsuit seeks removal of acting town administrator

By David Wildstein, March 06 2019 7:11 am

West New York mayor Felix Roque has filed a lawsuit challenging the eligibility of Michael Jimenez to serve as both municipal attorney and acting town administrator – a move the mayor says was made unlawfully for the political gain of three town commissioners running against him in the May election.

Roque alleges that commissioners Gabriel Rodriguez, Cosmo Cirillo and Margarita Guzman have abused their office by consolidating power for themselves.

“It is very sad that these commissioners have violated their oaths and are interfering with our government for their political purposes,” Roque said. “This lawsuit is necessary to curb those excesses of power and to ensure that public resources are not abused for political gain. The Board of Commissioners are elected to run the town responsibly.  Rodriguez, Cirillo, and Guzman have abdicated that duty and I am confident that the Court will address their abuses of power and restore integrity to our government.”

The mayor is asking the court to order Jimenez’s removal as administrator.
