Monmouth county clerk has plan for freeholder petition filing

By David Wildstein, March 16 2020 9:45 am

Monmouth County Clerk Christine Hanlon has closed her office to the public for walk-in services for least the next week to help avoid the spread of coronavirus.

Nominating petitions for freeholder – the only office filed with the county clerk – can be dropped off in the lobby of the county administration building, according to a statement posted on More Monmouth Musings.  So can VBM applications.

Only freeholder petitions are accepted by the county clerk.  Candidates for statewide and congressional offices file with the state Division of Elections, while local office petitions are filed with the municipal clerk.

Hanlon said staff will be available to assist voters as needed, noting that her employees are working and will be available by phone and e-mail.
