CWA backs Democrats for Monmouth Freeholder

Communication Workers of America Local 1087 and the union’s national arm endorsed Democrats for Monmouth County freeholder Thursday.

Moira Nelson and Michael Penna are seeking to oust Freeholder Tom Arnone and to defeat his running mate, Dominick DiRocco.

“Communication Workers of America Local 1087 Executive Board voted to endorse Monmouth County Freeholder Candidates Moira Nelson and Michael Penna. CWA Local 1087 represents employees of the Division of Social Services, who provide vital services to the most vulnerable residents of Monmouth County,” CWA Local 1087 President Kimberly White said. “Nelson and Penna represent everyday working families and CWA is thrilled to endorse progressive candidates for change who will work with our members to meet the needs of both labor and the community in Monmouth County.”

Penna is a special ed teacher.

Nelson is a long-time fashion executive.

“I am extremely proud to receive endorsement by CWA Local 1087. As an educator teaching at-risk and special needs students, I have a deep understanding of how essential social services are.” Penna said. “Moira and I are ready to step into the role of Freeholder to represent every day working class families on the board and promise to focus on protecting and supporting the county’s union workers.
