Linden library spat ends after publicity

By Nikita Biryukov, November 02 2018 12:46 pm

The Linden Library’s Board of Trustees pulled a scheduled meeting to discipline and possible fire Theresa Villani, who is the vice president of the city’s school board.

“Once I put it out public, they withdrew the hearing, and my job is no longer in jeopardy today as of literally 10 minutes ago,” Villani told the New Jersey Globe.

The short-lived spat may be a continuation of a feud between Linden Mayor Derek Armstead, who forces aligned with Villani say controls the library board, and State Sen. Nicholas Scutari, who is also Union County Democratic Chairman.

During a tiff earlier this year over primary polling locations, Armstead charged that Scutari controlled the school board, a charge Scutari did not deny, though he said he had not discussed the reduction in polling sites with Linden Superintendent Danny Robertozzi, who ordered the change.
