Now that Republicans have been completely wiped out in two consecutive local elections, a pair of GOP leaders want Dennis Pone to resign as Republican Municipal Chairman.

“Pone lacks the moral and ethical integrity to represent Republicans,” said outgoing Councilwoman Ileana Schirmer and former Councilman Edward Gore.  “Time for Dennis Pone to accept the fact that character matters, integrity matters, being ethical matters.”

Mayor Kelly Yaede was defeated for re-election last week by Democrat Jeff Martin, with two Republican council seats flipping at the same time.

In January. Democrats will have a mayor and a 5-0.

Schirmer, who did not seek re-election, and Gore alleged that Pine “purposely lied about the fake news, BlogSpot, which was used by him and others to attack Republicans.”

“Pone was deeply involved in trying to oust the Mercer County Republican Chairwoman one month before elections,” Schirmer and Gore said.  “He has demonstrated over and over that he is incapable of addressing an issue directly with an individual, instead he attacks them publicly.”

Pone, a former councilman who became municipal chairman in 2018, did not answer a phone believed to be his.
