Gloucester County Clerk refutes video baselessly claiming election fraud

By Joey Fox, November 05 2021 12:29 pm

In response to a video circulating on social media purporting to show evidence of election fraud, the Gloucester County Clerk’s office released a statement this morning refuting the claims and explaining why recycling bins outside the clerk’s office contained elections-related materials.

“These individuals [in the video] were incorrectly claiming election fraud,” the clerk’s office wrote. “The materials in the recycling containers were not viable for any electoral use.”

Instead, the materials within the bins were outdated business reply envelopes, instructional inserts, and spoiled or damaged ballots voters brought to the office and replaced with usable ballots. None of the contents were valid votes.

“These items have no viable election use and were discarded in accordance with the law,” the office wrote.

According to the statement, the individuals who filmed themselves rummaging through the bins are now under investigation by the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office.
