Cape May likely re-elects Republican freeholders

By Nikita Biryukov, November 03 2020 11:04 pm

Republican Freeholders Will Morey and Jeffrey Pierson will likely overcome challenges from Cape May County Democratic Chairman Brendan Sciarra and attorney Elizabeth Casey to win another term, the New Jersey Globe Projects.

Democrats haven’t won a freeholder race in Cape May since now-Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-Dennis) left to join the State Assembly.

Sciarra put roughly $100,000 of his own money into the race, a move that led some Democrats believe the contest would be a close one.

County Clerk Rita Marie Fulginiti and Sheriff Robert Nolan, both Republicans, ran unopposed.
