Bergen County Chairman Paul Juliano hasn’t decided who he’ll back for Democratic state chair.
“We’re going to have some discussions with some of the state committee people, and we’ll go from there,” Juliano told the New Jersey Globe. “At this second, we have not made any decisions.”
Essex County Democratic Chairman LeRoy Jones has been mulling a challenge to Democratic State Chairman John Currie.
Most of the state’s Democratic county chairs quickly picked sides after Jones announced his interest in the position last year, though the contest has taken something of a breather as the year’s Assembly campaigns enter their closing weeks.
Juliano, who took office in July, has yet to — publicly — pick a side.
Both Currie and Jones attended an annual beefsteak hosted by State Sen. Joe Lagana in Paterson Monday. The two even hugged.
The election is expected to take place in December, before Currie’s term expires on Jan. 1, 2020.
